Newark is currently facing a water crisis, due to high levels of lead in the tap water. The name and the logo lead showers also references the ongoing gun violence that has plagued the city for years. This is something that needs to be recognized and stopped.
The name and design were coined by bc2tone. bc2tone is a Newark native who also had high levels of lead in his blood while growing up. It was not an easy situation. "Lead Showers" is also the name of his most recent mixtape, due to this initiative.
